CCP Games, the studio behind the acclaimed space MMO EVE Online, has officially rebranded itself as Fenris Creations and severed ties with Pearl Abyss. The shift comes alongside a major announcement of a research partnership with Google DeepMind, valued at a staggering $120 million, or approximately £88 million, as first reported by Eurogamer.
In a significant development for both the gaming and tech sectors, Google’s DeepMind has partnered with Fenris Creations to explore artificial intelligence applications within the iconic MMORPG EVE Online. This collaboration comes on the heels of Google acquiring a minority stake in Fenris, which recently transitioned to an independent studio. As first reported by Tom’s Hardware, this initiative aims to utilize data from EVE Online’s vast player base,currently boasting a quarter of a million active users,to train AI systems in understanding complex player interactions.
